Voruvoru take Initiative to Clean Bangara RHC.


Voruvoru youths took the initiative to clean up the Bangara Rural Health Clinic on the 3rd of February as part of their program said Fr. Thomas Pata who is currently serving the parish.

Although the number of young people in the parish has decreased, many are enrolled in secondary education, and others have left, but their involvement in its programs and communities inspired them.

Fr. Thomas lists their responsibilities as managing the clinic for the upcoming year, helping to establish the community secondary school, and constructing the new parish church building.

So, starting off with Bangara Rural Health Center has given a positive sign for these youths, said Fr. Thomas.

Two AMIS Volunteers Appreciated.


Two Italian AMIS volunteers namely Giancarlo and Paolo were appreciated by the school Principal of Vanga Training Center.

The school Principal, Fr. Stephen Te’e thanked them during their final 3 days doing maintenance and fixing all the sanitary set-ups of the school.

He expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of the hardworking volunteers and those who supported them on behalf of his community and said that he appreciates their great assistance and contributions to their school and community.

Catholic Diocese of Gizo now has a new Bishop, Most Rev. Bishop Peter Houhou who was installed at St. Peter Cathedral Gizo on Sunday 27th of August 2023 by the Nuncio, His Excellency, Most Reverend Archbishop Fermin Emilio Sosa Rodriguez.

Lenten Cross Launch for Pilgrimage around Parish.


On February 22nd, the Lenten Cross was launched for a pilgrimage around the communities at Holy Rosary Parish Nila.

The launching took place at the mission station and its first destination was St. John Bosco Senior and Technical School. Then they went to Tuha Junior Secondary School spending 2 days before their departure to the Fauro community.

Missionaries’ Visitation Calls On.


Missionaries visiting Moli, Taro, and Nila parishes have shown that the call was for all parishes to continue to have responsibility for the Church of God here in our diocese.

Their visitation revealed the bishop’s emphasis on having more priests and Religious for our diocese. Though the church has struggled to shape up more seminarians and outcomes we have few, but their presence has shown the bishop’s love for our church to fill up those gaps to build the Body of Christ.

These are the Sisters of the Servants of the Lord and the Vision of Matara, Sr. Roucia SSUM, Sr. Sponsa SSUM, Sr. Alborada SSUM, and Fr. Ruel from the Word Incarnate.

They were welcomed by the Students, Staff, and parishioners from our three parishes last month. They traveled on the boat MV Galilee from the 1st to the 9th of October.

They are now currently living and serving at the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Wagina.
