About 150 women celebrate the Feast of the Assumption at Noro

Approximately 150 women from the Southern Deanery gathered to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption at St. Eusebius, Noro parish, from August 14th to 16th.

Participants hailed from Noro, Wagina, and Gizo, expressing gratitude to those from Noro parish, particularly parish priest Fr. Charles, Fr. Joseph, Br. Peter, key parish members, and the youth who contributed to the event's success.

This celebration marked a significant occasion for the women of SD after a 2 or 3 years, serving as a reminder of their spiritual and faith journeys; these women experienced joy, love, and unity through the hospitality and activities organized over the three days, as noted by Sr. Teresa Tebaia OP.

The feast day offered deeper insights to the women during the Catechism sessions (Talks), emphasizing that the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary honors the Catholic belief that Mary was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life.

Mary is often honored as a model of faith and courage — she accepted God’s call to become the mother of Jesus. A model of motherhood — Catholics look to her as a loving mother and intercessor. A sign of hope — her Assumption represents the Christian hope of resurrection and eternal life. An example of dignity — the teaching that Mary was taken to heaven body and soul emphasizes the value of the human person, including the body.

The highlights also depict these women assembling their entertainment to express their joy in being part of the event. They share meals, pray for intercession, and partake in the celebration of the Eucharist.
