Assumption Day Brings Change

 

 

 

For Gilberts, only elders (men) are served first and the left foods were kept for the children and women. But during the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mothers were served first regarding them as mothers for the Church.

The celebration began late afternoon 14th till 15th August and many witnessed the joyous gathering that brought the community to commemorate the solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

A guest spoke up challenging the elders saying that such practice give us communication, togetherness and teaching for our children. The guest said that we ought to make use of such celebrations to bring up gender balanced, communication and changes in our community, and through celebrations we met Jesus speaking through our hearts.
