Centenary celebrations at Sirovagna September 22nd 2005

Centenary celebrations were were held at the Church at Sirovagna on September 22nd 2005, with further celebrations at Perikamae, a Community High School some 3 kms back in bush over muddy track. At least 2 thousand people were present from both Moli and Sirovagna parishes. Many walked and paddled for couple of days to attend. Bishop Bernard O'Grady celebrated Mass with six other priests including Fathers Kevin Toomey OP and Anthony Walsh OP, Adelaide Novice Master.

Government Ministers and representatives from other Churches were present including the Premier and the Speaker of Choiseul Province. Many Shortland people came by canoe to join those from Choiseul. A Memorial Plaque was unveiled to commemorate those who served the Church in Choiseul. The First Marists to serve there included Frs Forestier and Binois.
